Gregory Dale Menefee
Gregory Dale Menefee was born in Houston, Texas on November 14, 1978. He accepted Christ as a young child at New Mount Zion under the leadership of the late Reverend Sampson. Gregory was affectionately known to his family as Peanut. His late aunt Annette gave him his nickname, because he was so small when he was born.
Gregory attended Fort Bend Stephen F. Austin High School, and later went on to Everest Institute and graduated from their electrician program.
Gregory enjoyed his life. He loved music, especially by Tupac (his favorite song was “Dear Mama”), DJ Screw, and Z-Ro. He loved watching cooking shows, and would watch them with his sister Leomi while they were on the phone. He always looked forward to his sibling dates, which involved going to sporting events, hanging out, or doing whatever as long as they did it together.
He loved his mama. He was very affectionate and caring towards her. He would rub her feet, and brag about how great of a cook she was to any and everybody. He let it be known that nobody could cook better than his mama. His lady friends would call him a “mama’s boy.”
Greg would always say that “no one is perfect,” and “everybody has done something,” and he was very accepting of others. He did not discriminate. Gregory never met a stranger, he was able to talk with anyone. He had a way of making everyone laugh.
Gregory has met his grandparents in heaven: Lena Bell Smith, Ernest Carter, Andrew Dawson, Sr., and Rosie Dawson.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his grandmother: Carrie Carter, his parents: Benefrida Smith, Andrew Dawson, Audrey Dale Carter, Kim Smith, his siblings: Benjamin Menefee, Leomi Lott (Christopher), Bryant Smith, Lashell Dawson, Jerelle Dawson, his godson: Courtland Neal, and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and good friends.
